Course Name:

Proficiency in Medical Care-  STCW A-VI/4-2

Course Aim:

On completion of this course, students shall be proficient in the following tasks, amongst others:

  • Be able to participate in coordinated schemes for medical assistance on ships at sea;
  • To provide the sick and injured a satisfactory standard of medical care while they remain on board.

This course is designed in accordance with IMO Model Course 1.15.

Course Structure

This course consists of 45.5 hours of tuition split over 5 days.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible to attend this course, students must fulfil the following requirements:

  • Be 16 years or older
  • Hold a valid Proficiency in Medical First Aid Certificate STCW VI/4-1
