Ratings Forming part of an Engineering Watch (Engine Watch Rating) STCW Reg III/4 - TM CoC

Description

Objective: 

This is an entry level course that provides the knowledge and understanding required for the Ratings Forming Part of an Engineering Watch - Oiler, Junior Engineers or Wipers- standing for engineering watches.  

On successful completion of this course, trainees have to obtain a minimum of 2 months of onboard seagoing service, in order to be able to obtain the CoP from Transport Malta.

Course Structure

  • Carry out a watch routine appropriate to the duties of a rating forming part of an engine-room watch. 

  • ​​Understand orders and be understood in matters relevant to watchkeeping duties for keeping a boiler watch. 

  • Maintain the correct water levels and steam pressures. 

  • Operate emergency equipment and apply emergency procedures. 

Entry Requirements

  • 16yrs - holding a School Leaving Certificate 

  • Medical Fitness Certificate for Service at Sea
