The superyacht industry offers a wide range of career opportunities, but knowing where to start can sometimes be challenging. What roles are available? What skills are needed? Which qualifications could help you get there?
The Superyacht Career Pathways course has been designed to help answer these questions and give young people a clearer picture of the opportunities available within the industry.
Developed as part of the SYQF Erasmus+ project, the course provides an introduction to the superyacht industry and the different career pathways available to those interested in entering this sector.
A first step towards understanding the industry
The superyacht industry is made up of many different roles, both onboard and ashore. While some careers are directly involved in yacht operations, others focus on areas such as hospitality, engineering, navigation, guest services, management and other specialist functions.
For someone considering a career in yachting, this variety can be exciting, but it can also make it difficult to understand which direction to take.
The Superyacht Career Pathways course provides an opportunity to explore the sector, understand the types of roles available and gain insight into the requirements and pathways associated with different careers.
Whether you already have an idea of the role you would like to pursue or are simply curious about what the industry has to offer, the course is intended to help you take that first step with greater clarity.
Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at NEETs, young people who are currently not in education, employment or training, who are interested in learning more about opportunities within the yachting industry.
You do not need to have a career in yachting already mapped out. In fact, this introductory course is designed for those who are still exploring their options and want to understand what the industry could offer them.

What can you expect?
The course will provide an introduction to the superyacht industry and its career pathways, helping participants develop a better understanding of:
- The superyacht industry and how it operates
- The different career opportunities available
- The skills and requirements associated with different roles
- Potential pathways into the industry
- The steps that can help you progress towards a career in yachting
The course will be delivered free of charge. Held online in English, over two sessions making a total of 5 hours.
Participants who attend 100% of the sessions will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Part of the SYQF Erasmus+ project
The course forms part of the wider SYQF Erasmus+ project, which brings together partners from across Europe to support clearer career pathways and skills development within the superyacht industry.
By helping people better understand the roles, responsibilities, competencies and pathways within the sector, the project aims to make career opportunities easier to navigate and support individuals in taking informed steps towards their future careers.
