            Course Name:

            Use of Leadership and Managerial Skills (Management Level)

            Course Aim:

            Students will cover all the important aspects of senior Leadership and Management concepts, techniques and skills. During the course, one would also address communication and interaction techniques.
            This course is sometimes also referred to as HELM Management Level and is designed in accordance with the IMO Model Course 1.40.

            Course Structure

            Duration: 5 days (approx. 40 hours) – Hybrid delivery.

            Schedule:

            • Day 1 & 2: 0900hrs – 1700hrs (Online via MS Teams)
              • Interactive Theory & Management Modules
            • Day 3 to 5: 0900hrs – 1700hrs (In-class @ MaritimeMT)
              • Practical Leadership Workshops & Assessment

            Course Fee: €1,000 per candidate.

            Students shall be actively encouraged to fully participate in class discussions by drawing on their past experiences with regards to leadership & management.

            Unit:
            1. Related IMO conventions, recommendations & national legislation
            2. Shipboard personnel management & training
            3. Task & workload management
            4. Effective resource management
            5. Decision making techniques
            6. Development, implementation & oversight of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

            Entry Requirements

            To be eligible to attend this course, students must fulfil the following requirements:

            • Hold a valid Leadership & Teamwork Operational Level certificate.
