Microsoft Excel Level 1

The objective of the session is to start using Microsoft Excel in a more confident way for day-to-day tasks and familiarize yourself with basic formulae. The session is a practical workshop where participants practice the different functions being taught.

Description

Basic Level

  • Introduction to Microsoft Excel and useful shortcuts

  • Fundamentals of formulae including freeze panes, how to use the $ sign, & ampersand, drag function, setting names and paste special function. 

  • Creating charts

  • Date and time formulae.

  • Text formulae and functions including concatenate, splitting content from cells, flash fill, group and ungroup.

  • Math and trig formulae including SUM and subtotal, rounding and absolute formula.

  • Checking for errors.

  • Importing text delimited files.

  • Conditional formatting.

  • Data Validation

What you should bring on the day of the course:

Bring your own laptop and make sure that Microsoft Excel is installed prior to the sessions and as for the version any would do, but ideally version 2016 or Microsoft 365 version 2009.

If there are participants that have MAC operating systems, some shortcuts might be different, so ideally during the session Windows operating system is used.
