GMDSS GOC STCW IV/2
The GMDSS GOC (General Operators Certificate) course, as per IMO Model Course 1.25, is designed to meet the requirements of the STCW Convention, Table A-IV/2, for SOLAS vessels operating in sea areas A1, A2, A3 and A4, and satisfying the provisions of the Radio Regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ref. IT U RR Art. 47).

Objectives

The objective is to provide trainees with guidance and information to gain knowledge, understanding and proficiency required to achieve the objectives of the learning outcomes to demonstrate the standard of competence in GMDSS radio communications as required in table A-IV/2 of the STCW Code.

Entry Requirements
- a basic knowledge of radio communication practice
- a working knowledge of written and spoken English
- basic computer skills
Transport Malta COC
Upon a positive assessment result, participants will be issued with a Certificate of Completion which is a pre-requisite to apply for the Certificate of Competence from the Authority of Transport in Malta.
The Transport Malta Oral Exam for the GMDSS GOC Certificate of Competence will be held on the first available date closest to course completion at MaritimeMT. The fee payable to Transport Malta for sitting the GMDSS GOC exam is of €200 and a fee for the eventual respective COC payable also to Transport Malta is of €30.
